Quick Tips After you go Home Following your Angioplasty
Call your physician if…
You detect an irregular heartbeat, your pulse is skipping beats or you feel a fluttering in your chest.
You have a fever greater than 100.5 degrees.
You have worsening in swelling, redness, unusual drainage, bleeding or pain at your puncture site. You can expect your groin/arm at the point of insertion to be bruised.
You experience new or increased shortness of breath or it is difficult to catch your breath.
You are experiencing chest pain.
You have fainting spells, dizziness or cool/clammy skin.
You have a change in you urine amount or color or you are experiencing difficulty passing your urine.
You develop severe calf or leg pain.
You develop unusual rashes, ongoing nausea or vomiting.
If you experience unrelieved chest pain, call 911. Go immediately to the closest hospital emergency department.
Other Tidbits
Keep a list of current medications in your wallet at all times. You may also wish to give a copy to family or friends. Be sure the list includes doses and times you take them. Keep a copy of your physician’s telephone number with you and near the phone at home.
